Bottled Up Designs
Olive Hoop Necklace
Who knew that old, broken glass could be turned into such beautiful jewelry? I get tons of compliments on my Olive Green Hoop Necklace. People are shocked when I tell them it came from a vintage wine bottle.
Therein lies the true beauty of these pieces. Each one is utterly unique and has its own personal story behind it, which is included with each jewelry piece. The only problem is you’ll find it tough to choose just one item with such an array of styles and colors.
More About Bottled Up Designs
An avid glass and bottle collector, Laura Bergman spent countless hours poking through the many old glass and bottle dumps scattered throughout the natural wooded habitats and rural farmlands in Pennsylvania. However, seeing the beauty and the history in the broken glass left behind, decided to pick up the pieces and turn them into something beautiful again.

I already get your email digest, and I LOVE it!!! I’ve gotten so many awesome deals and freebiest thanks to your emails!
Being a single mom and a full time graduate student, I am forced to recycle and ‘upcycle’ every day. Some of the things I do include cutting up last year’s Christmas cards to make new tags for presents and using newspaper funnies and pretty store bags and paper to wrap presents. I also make toys for my 10 month old son, such as a drum out of a coffee can and maracas/rattles by placing beads and dried beans in water bottles. For Christmas this year, I’m having a friend knit (since I don’t know how) a large purse/bag using strips of plastic bags instead of yarn. It is going to be a beach bag for my sister who lives near the ocean, and since it’s made of plastic bags it’s naturally waterproof! We’re using colored bags (such as the orange ones Goodwill used around Halloween) to give the bag some great color!
If I forget to take my grocery bags with me and end up coming home with plastic then I turn around and send those bags to daycare so that they don’t have to use their big trashbags when the babies blowout or when they send blankets home at the end of the week.

We save the comic section of the newspaper & use it as wrapping paper!
I always save the cardboard from paper towel rolls for my kids to color, use as spyglasses, etc.
I work in the office of a plumbing company that provides an unlimited amount of water bottles for employees to drink during the day. I collect the used plastic water bottles and take them to the local humane society (where they use them as chew toys for the pets).

I love the new Country Rich 4.5qt pails of ice cream at Walmart. They are almost square and have a handle and are clear on 3 sides so they are perfect to upcycle for almost anything. My husband puts them on the shelf in his shop and sorts odds and ends in them. My kids use them in their bedrooms for small toys. I use them for Berry Picking in the spring and summer. Love them!
I recycle my ziploc bags. Rinse them out well and reuse!

I go to great lengths to recycle plastic containers, plastic bags (including washing and re-using), cardboard, paper, newspapers, packaging. I “Freecycle” clothing and household items.
I reuse any glass bottles to mix paint in for my paintings. I also recycle all of my grocery bags, newspapers, etc.

I reuse printer paper after I cut out the coupons for my daughter’s artwork.
We recycle all paper and cardboard. We have a bin for cardboard, tubes, boxes etc. The kids love to dig in there and make robot suits, crafts and more with that stuff! It gives them hours of enjoyment for freeee!

I’ve taught my 3yr old son about recycling and he always looks for cans when we go out. I’m sure we have gotten many strange looks as we collect cans from parking lots.

I use my plastic grocery bags to pick up after my 7 dogs. They make a huge mess in the back yard and these along with newspaper bags are perfect. I try to recycle everything that I can.

I recycle the plastic containers that baby food comes in. I put things like cheerios for my toddler in them and pop the lid on and throw them in the diaper bag. I also use them in the “junk drawer” to store things like rubber bands and thumb tacks.
I use comics and brown paper bags for wrapping gifts.

We recycle paper, plastics and glass. We return our deposit can and bottles. I have also been saving some containers to reuse–like plastic chinese takeout containers work well for leftovers or small bottles like the diswasher rinse aid container to fill with hand lotion to keep in the car.
