Instead of regular Christmas cards, use Christmas postcards. You can still do your message on the back, a nice picture , even a family pic on the front, and the cost of mailing is cheaper than a card!

You know how some people have to have their Starbucks coffee every day? Well, I’m like that with their Iced Tea Lemonade…. I’m addicted! This is how I save at least $1 a day…

I buy the Passion tea, when it’s on sale at my local grocery store, a few lemons every few days, and the Country Time lemonade mix. Together they make an iced tea lemonade that puts Starbucks to shame, and save me a few bucks each time I get the hankering!

Cooking from scratch easily saves me several dollars a day. It definitely takes a little extra effort, but it is not too bad with the help of my bread machine and crockpot. And the food is tastier and more nutritious. What’s not to love?

Use an envelope budgeting system. Determine what your monthly expenditures are, and file into different envelopes the cash absolutely necessary for each category, including an emergency fund. Most importantly, stick to the budget! Set aside at least 10% into a high yield savings, checking or CD account. If you have credit card debts or other high interest rate debts, pay off those balances first. The savings from eliminating the interest payments alone can be enormous.

Instead of going out and spending on entertainment for family or friends, invite them over and do low cost/no cost activities. This can include playing and exercising in the park (good for your health too), having a potluck (split the cost of food among your friends: you’ll have a variety of choices and the leftovers can be shared and saved for the next day), or playing some card or board games together. It’s all fun and saves everyone money!

My tip: Eat eggs often, if not once a day! They can be cooked all different kinds of ways for breakfast and dinner and are good (and transportable) if you hard boil them for lunch!

Hi, I’m new here! It’s always nice to hear from other mom’s trying to save money!! It’s like my mother used to say, if it’s cold…put on a sweater and some warm socks!

I also plan my meals at least two weeks in advance. That way, I’m not running to the grocery store for something small, and end up buying stuff I don’t need!

#3…stock up when you get the best deals—many of us do this when grocery shopping, but use the same method when buying other things too! I love Bath and Body works hand soaps and wallflower room fragrances, but they are a major splurge on my budget. I have learned what the “best” deals are on these items, and when they offer them a few times a year at that best price, I combine coupons and stock up! The soaps and hand sanitizers also make nice gift bag fillers to have on hand!

Use the Paperback Swap website. My library is really hard to get newer books from, and since my preschool moved, its no longer on my way anywhere, so I signed up for Paperback swap—a great way to recycle your old titles for new books that you want to read!

tip #1: Arm yourself with easy to grab snacks on the run for the kiddos. With 3 little ones, you would think this would be no-brainer for me, but now that my youngest is 2 and i no longer tote around the diaper bag, I cannot tell you how many times I forget to have snacks on the ready and have to buy something out of desperation at the store to make it thru our errands!

Coupons! I have recently returned to using coupons and I am saving way more than $30 a month! I don't even have to go to the effort of clipping them, as my kindergarteners love any excuse to use scissors!
