Check Restaurant.com and make sure there are restaurants that you frequent that take the certificates. Also note that usually you have to have a minimum purchase of, say $50 to use a $25 certificate.
Not saying this isn’t a great deal, just throwing it out there for general consumption.
I took advantage of a sale like this a few years ago – I still have $100 in unused certificates. The good news is that it looks like they’re still active…
I just bought a $50 gift certificate for $4.00! It’s a restaurant I haven’t heard of, and it’s for a minimum $100 purchase… but it was only $4.00! I have a large extended family that like to all get together for dinner at restaurants occasionally. We could easily spend $100. For half off, even mediocre food is worth it for a family get-together. It’s not about the food, after all!

I made separate purchases to get 12 – $25 cards to give to friends and family this holiday season. $300 for $24.!? Who cares about the $35 minimum (in my case)? If you staid fast to that amount, that’s still only $12 per meal for $47 worth.

Katy, the gist of what I’m seeing is not that Restaurant.com is selling your credit card information but that they may offer you a cash back offer if you give them permission to share your information with a partner company. As long as you purchase only the gift certificates and don’t sign up for any other offers without reading very carefully, your credit card information should be safe.
This is terrific, I just purchased ten certificates – we’ll either use them for special occasions or pass them along to people.
