seal_soul_albumThe hustle and bustle of the holiday season has really been taking its toll lately.

As you can imagine, I don’t get a whole lot of “me” time as a mom of five, so I’ve learned to work in short bursts of relaxation when I can throughout the day to prevent myself from being overwhelmed by everything.

One of my favorite methods for relaxation lately is just taking a few minutes to listen to Seal’s latest CD, Soul. I close my eyes and just become one with the music, and after about 15 minutes I’ve regained most of my sanity and am ready to tackle life head on again.

Soul features eleven classic soul songs, and I truly feel like there’s something here for everyone. If you’d like to hear a taste, just check out the widget in my sidebar!

One lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader will win a copy of Soul so he or she can kick back and relax a little, and as an added bonus, you’ll receive these great little Lego iPod speakers from Delight.com.
(I’m so jealous of these – I think they’re just adorable!)

So tell me how do you unwind after a rough day? Can you tell when you haven’t been taking enough time for yourself? How have your learned to make time? I know I struggle with this, so I would assume a lot of you do as well, and I’m looking forward to you sharing your tips.

Methods of entry:

Oh, wow, Seal is amazing! To relax, I usually get myself a hot cup of coffee or chai tea, grab a good book, turn on some very low, very soulful music, and read for a bit. What a great way to rejuvenate and refresh.

thank you so much for sharing

The most relaxing thing for me is a nice hot shower.

11 Joseph December 17, 2008 at 1:41 pm

Once I get home from work I will get my iPod and walking shoes and go out for at least an hour long walk to unwind and relax after a difficult day. Not only is it great exercise but definitely helps me to relieve the stress of the day.

12 Cameron D. December 17, 2008 at 1:41 pm

When my husband gets home, he graciously lets me go back to our room and lay down on our bed and read and relax and have some quiet for about a half an hour to an hour. It’s great, really…a half an hour and I am back and ready to make dinner!

13 Michelle December 17, 2008 at 1:53 pm

I love to sit in the computer room in my comfy chair and drink hot tea and read a girlie/fun magazine ALONE!!!

15 Veerle December 17, 2008 at 2:19 pm

Each quarter I’m taking an evening class I really enjoy. I’m away from home, talk about something else than my kid and learn a lot of new things about the thing I’m passionate about, photography.

16 Janet December 17, 2008 at 2:43 pm

After the kids all go to bed, I’ll make a nice, hot cup of decaf tea and curl up on the couch with a magazine or a book.

17 sito December 17, 2008 at 2:58 pm

A bathtub full of steaming hot water and scented bubbles, a glass of wine, a nice escape novel, and some soft music. Ahhh, nothing like it.

18 rakhee December 17, 2008 at 2:58 pm

Hi unwind my difficult day by going out on a long romantic drive with my dearest hubby and i dont cook on that day ( a nice excuse :) )

19 Jennifer December 17, 2008 at 3:10 pm

At the end I put the children to bed and quickly pick up the front area of the house. Then I sit on the couch for a minute and think of all the wonderful things we accomplished for the day. Then I either watch a t.v. show, finish a craft, scrapbook or spend my time checking out this site and take time to really find the deals I want.

29 Tracey Byram December 17, 2008 at 5:20 pm

I pop the ipod into their speakers, turn on some Train or some guitar blues, lock the door and jump into a tub of scented water as hot as I can stand it. By the time the water is getting cold, I’m calm and relaxed and ready to face the world again.

30 Emily Albrecht December 17, 2008 at 5:25 pm

I am not very good at this, but a few of my favorite ways to unwind are exercise (if it is warm outside), a nice hot uninterrupted bath (which the uninterrupted part never happens, or just reading a book or watching TV. Sometimes I like to clean. If I’m stressed enough I can clean the whole house in just a few hours and then I feel doubly better.

Thanks for the contest.

I play on the computer for awhile after the kids go to sleep and read all of my blog emails! And if it’s been a really really bad day, I add a hard cider to that scenario. Not too often, so when I do I make it count!

36 Ianne December 17, 2008 at 6:49 pm

I have my husband watch the kids. I take a long warm shower and do the stuff that are hard to squeeze in my day, e.g. doing my nails, etc.

37 Nancy December 17, 2008 at 6:51 pm
