My target has a lot of the items. The price in Rhode Island is more then the coupon so it's never free. Plus they do not want to take the coupon. Now if it's not on sale or full price they don't want to take it. So not cool.

I couldn't use my tide coupons for travel size detergent. The coupons made the register beep, and I was told the coupons were not for trial/travel sizes. I didn't want to argue. I did have success using coupons for some travel size deodorants, though. No beeping, no hassles. What gives with the inconsistencies? I guess it never hurts to try!

I went this evening & got nothing but attitude from the cashier. All she kept saying was how she was going to get in trouble for going ahead & letting me use them. I kept saying, well all the manager has to do is read none of them said "excludes trial size" so they're valid. And if you're so worried about getting in trouble then why do it, right? She probably knew I would get my way anyways. I think some people just get mad because you've found a way to get stuff either very cheap or free & they don't. My Renu was $1.52 but paying 52 cents is no problem especially when some of the other items were cheaper than a $1.

This has been my first week checking out blogs such as these & have been amazed at the deals I've found. I've always clipped coupons but have learned A TON this week. That free Arby's coupon was great! THANKS!!!

Well, I went and tried to use some of these coupons on trial size items and was told that I could not use them since the item cost less than the coupon was for. I asked if she could just change the amount of the coupon and was told no. So I left and called the 800 number and settled it. They called the store and told them that they were supposed to take the coupons and how to change the amounts. Then, I called the store and asked if they still had my items and was told yes they would keep them in the front for me. So then I drove all the way back to the store to get them. I talked to the store manager and she saidshe had never heard of this policy before she got the call from customer relations but was happy to do it now that she knew. So I asked for my items so I could check out and they couldn't find them. They had already been put back. So I had two trips to Target and nothing to show for it! After all this I was not about to go all around the store again looking for the things I was going to get!

Ive learned that if I dont buy all the trial sizes at once but over a few trips that cashiers are more likely to let them go through. My cousin works for Target and told me that most people just have no idea how coupons work including the cashiers and managers. He also pointed out when the item is lets say .89 and the coupon is for a $1 off then if they lower it to the price Target makes money. Like I said though his best advice was to go to a young cashier (high schooler or college kid) and not do too many freebies in one transaction. Ive found around me this is extremely helpful. I remember with the bath buddies I bought the bars and the girl told me I couldnt use the 3/$3 coupon or whatever it was..... and it had the bath buddies bar on the coupon pictured. I went back the next day and the lady told me as long as its on the coupon she didnt care and did the adjustment.

That is so frustrating that they wouldn't take the coupons for travel sizes. They act as if they are losing money! They get reimbursed for the full face value plus a certain amount. They aren't losing any money! I wish they would understand that! GRRrr

If they weren't meant to be used on trial sizes, they'd have wording on them excluding them. Perhaps you could try carrying a coupon that does have that wording to point out the difference?

Did they say why, Tina? It doesn't exclude trial sizes, so they should have accepted it.

Angie, if you click on the Coupons tab at the top of the page, I have a list of resources where you can purchase newspaper insert coupons.

unfortunately my target outright told me that they will no longer be taking coupons for travel size products... so frustrating. I tried explaining that they just needed to reduce the coupon price, but they insisted they are not allowed to do this. I politely told them that their coupon policy says that that is what they would do if an item is less than the coupon amount and all they said was "NO." Oh well.. not worth all of the hassle for me.
