The cashier did have to scan it a coupon times but it did eventually go through!

I bought the Tag Jr at Target today and gave the cashier both the manufacturer and Target coupon. It beeped and would not take the Target coupon. She called a manager over and they said it would not work for the Tag Jr, it had to be for the Tag with the Dr. Suess book on it and the skinnier pen. I went ahead and bought it anyhow since $10 is better than nothing. When I got home and looked at the receipt, the cashier had not even used the $10 manufacturer coupon, but she had kept it and only given me back the Target coupon. So I ended up paying full price and losing my manufacturer coupon! I am going to take it back tomorrow and try the whole process again at another Target.

Nicole – are you saying that Target accepted the Leapfrog manufacturer coupon for “Save $5 on the Tag Jr Book Pal” for the Tag Jr *books*? That would be great. I tried that at Toys R Us this weekend, and they wouldn’t take it.

I purchased the Leap Frog Jr. at Target last week for $8.99. On sale for $28.99, I used a $10 target coupon and $10 Leap Frog coupon. I also used a Leap Frog $5 coupon to puchase the Tag Jr. books for $5.99 each.

Also, Kohl’s currently has all their toys, including Leap Frog items on sale, with an additional 20% off, plus coupon. I had a 30% off and bought the LF Scribble and Write for just over $12 as opposed to the $21.99 that I paid at Target.

This is where I found it, Leap Frog website $3.00 off coupon. It says on the coupon, expires 9/09, but it rang up (without override!!) as $4.00 off. I have used this coupon once at Walmart for the Scout, once at Target for the Violet, and once at Target for the Alphabet Pal, all worked, all $4.00. Today the Violet was marked down to 14.99 (competing with Walmart), I used the $5 Target coupon, and the $4 MFR. Good deal!

I got the Tag (not Jr.) today at Target for $19.99!! It is advertised in thier ad for $49.99, so I had the toys r us ad so I could price match it for $39.99, but when I got to it, the shelf price was for $39.99! The cashier did have to get a manger to come to the register to authorize the store coupon, but all went well.
ALSO……I asked my friend who has worked at Target for 8 years about the Tag coupon being used for the Tag Jr, and she said if it does not exclude it specifically on the coupon, then they will take it, depending on the manager. Meaning, if you get one that likes to give you a hard time, b/c they are not so nice adjective, then they more than likely not going to let you, but they should!! And the register beeps for lots of diferant reasons, sometimes it could be b/c it doesn’t recognize the amount to be discounted, or the item that needs to be discounted. She said 80% of the time, the register beeps b/c it needs the cashier to enter information, not b/c the coupon is bad. AND she said if they had been having a problem getting reimbursed for the Tag coupon being used on Tag Jr’s, they would have gotten a fax or email telling them not to accept it AT ALL! So Laurie, now you know this clearly ISN’T wrong! :)

i went to target over lunch today and the V-Tech Alphabet Train Station was $37.99. :( They had other v-tech items on clearance, but i wasn’t interested in any of those. Anyone else find this item for $12.48? just curious if i should look at another target.

I finally got my Tag Jr!! I tried Target today and it worked. I also wanted to let you know, Target has lowered there price on Leap Frog My Pal Scout/Violet to compete with Walmart. Walmart is $15.00, Target $14.99. Target has a $5 coupon, then use the Leap Frog coupon, check my previous post for the link, (says $3 but rings up differently)$4 and you only pay $5.99 Great Deal!!

I tried to buy the Tag Jr today at Target and they would not let me use either coupon, Targets nor Manufacturer. I looked at the Target coupon once I got home and it says Tag Redaing System but since there are two Tags, you would think unless they excluded one in their terms, then they would have to allow it. Any advice?

I did buy the Leap Frog Alphabet Train for $6, $10 off Target coupon, then a $3 off coupon from Leap Frog, the $3 rang up as $4 off and the coupon said it expired 9/09. She did not override it (if she did, then she would have let me use the coupons on the Tag Jr :)

They have the Tag System on sale this week for $36.99 (Target has it for $39.99)… if you take the Aldi ad in and get them to match the price and use the two $10 coupons you can get it for $16.99.

Was at Target tonight and found the V-Tech Alphabet Train Station and it is ringing up at $12.48! Supposed to be $37.99 as shown on their website (and it’s $39.99 at TRU) but even the price on the shelf said $12.48. Yay!!

Had some difficulty PMing at Customer Service for the Tag Jr books and Sit and Spin…mgr said it had to be on sale at Target in order to PM. What? Then why would I be PMing!! And then said I couldn’t use coupons when PMing. I refused to budge until he showed me where it was stated as policy. He just shrugged and told the cashier to put it through “this time”. Puh-lease!

Laurie and Tara, The coupon page I ORIGINALLY printed was for #1) $10 any leapfrog Tag system (not specified) and #2) $5 off any book in the Tag library. It did not have a separate coupon for the Tag Jr. System as it does now. I believe the website has CHANGED the coupon because I have been searching all night to reprint more so I can get more books for $2.99 at Toys R Us. So, for those that used the $10 coupon on the Jr system, as I did, I don’t feel was wrong at all. It was not specific on my coupon WHICH Tag system it was for. Tara, thanks so much for this website! Keep up the great work.

You can use coupons on trial size items only when they do not specifically exclude them, and I never posted the Connect 4 deal specifically because the coupon is only good on the Connect 4×4 model.

I would like to state that I had all intentions to use these coupons on the TAG Reader but 3 Target stores that I frequent was out of them, I asked the Manager if I could use the Target one on the JUNIOR version and he said yes, he personally rung me out and saw I had the 2 Leap Frog coupons, I went to hand him the $5 one, but he said I could use the $10 one if I wanted for the inconvenice. He was great, wonderful customer service and a email was sent to cooperate complimenting him.

How is this any different from using coupons on trial sized items, or connect 4×4 coupons on connect 4, or on travel sized connect 4 ,etc.? If a store says ok , then it should be ok. If this many people were able to do a deal at this many Target stores, and they all said yes, then what is the problem? Most coupons of any kind(grocery or otherwise )beep at every store and someone has to override it. There are many more deals to question and couponing in general the way many blogs explain how to do it than just the Leapfrog deal.

Wow, I apologize but I had no idea there was an issue. Try as I might, I’m only one person and I can’t keep up with all of the comments lately. The only reason I saw this one, Laura, is because they randomly started going to moderation this morning.

I trust that when someone sends me a deal, they’ve verified the coupon terms. If it happens that there is an issue with a deal, it most helpful when a reader takes the time to email me personally about it. I’m surprised that no one took the time in this case. I would never intentionally report a deal that does not comply with the terms stated on the coupon.
