So glad I found this info, I stopped using walmart because the CSM said they didn't accept internet coupons. I am going to try again and if they give me a hard time I'm calling their 1-800 number. I mean really, what is the big deal? I'm just trying to save my family a bit of money and it does cost my time and ink to print these coupons.

I don't believe you should 'expect' overage on a coupon. Most of the time they take the price of the item off, even if the coupon value is higher. Sometimes they take off the full value of the coupon (bonus), but I would never expect my overage on one item to cover another. Expecting this type of treatment is what will make coupons extinct before you know it.

I would like to know the answer to that question as well. Tonight they wanted to adjust the coupon, so I ended up keeping the coupon and leaving the item. The only reason I got it in the first place was because of the overage, which would help cover the cost of the produce I was buying. When they adjust the coupon, do they still get the face value from the manufacturer?

Does anyone know what Walmart's policy is when the cpn is a higher amount than the item? Are they supposed to adjust down so you get the item free? I can't seen to fins this info anywhere.

Okay. I went to Wal-mart a couple of days ago and let me tell you, it was a pleasure. I had a cashier that was the best I have ever had at their store and this is the same store that I had to call 1800walmart on because of a butt of a cashier named Norma. Her name was Teresa and she had me out of there with my 240 dollars worth of stuff that cost me 49 dollars with price matches and coupons all it took her a whole ten minutes. She is the BEST!! She knew what she had rang up and when the coupon gave her a problem, she entered them by hand because as she says, "I know I rang it up and it's there so I will just enter it by hand". I hope that from now on she is there when I go because she is my favorite cashier of all times. Friendly, sweet and knew her job. All what you want in a Wal-Mart cashier or any cashier for that matter. If you are in Dalton Georgia by chance stop by for a great experience but don't got through Norma's line!

What IS up with Walmart (especially)??? I am tired of being made to feel like a criminal and/or bicker with the cashier EVERY time I go in with coupons (and MOST of the time it's not even the internet coupons that are the issue). Then on top of that, you feel badly for holding the customers behind you up. The lady behind me today snarked that there should be a seperate line for people with coupons (well Hello, I was clutching them bad boys in my hot little hand when you got behind me, so if that was an issue for you, pay closer attention). But really is it the coupon holder's fault that the cashiers are not trained properly, the registers don't recognize matching products & coupons, and even the management is unclear on the policy? It is ABSOLUETLY infuriating!! Can you tell I'm still pretty steamed over this? And this is far from the first incident (more like the straw that broke the camel's back). Walmart markets itself as a place to go to find savings, but don't dare try to use your coupons too! Obviously the manufacturers print the coupons with the intent that people are able to redeem them....what should be a simple transaction has become a demonstration where all common sence has dissappeared.
Thank you for posting the 1-800 -Walmart number, their coupon policy, and for sharing that the store info is in the front of the store - they will definately be hearing from me!!

I just hate that I have to take the policy out and ask for manager every time I use coupons at Walmart. That's why I don't go there anymore.

Thank you, Tara and Melissa.

Maggie, I have a copy of the policy in my coupon book in case I have problems. Being that Tara has a working relationship with Wal-Mart I trust her to be "in the know". As I have suggested to others here, at the front of your Wal-Mart (in customer service) there is a board with the District Manager's name & phone number for your store. Call that District Manager. They should be able to help you. It is especially frustrating when you have a coupon printed directly from a manufacturer's website and they tell you that you can't use it because the address is fraudulent. I had that happen once. I will not let it happen again. Do not copy coupons. I have been told that each internet coupon has a unique PIN# associated with it and stores will quit taking these coupons if they are getting charge backs for the same repeated PIN. I don't know if Tara posted that info or if I got it from another couponing blogger.

I've talked with my corporate contacts at length on this topic, and they've assured me that the managers do not have the authority to deviate from the posted corporate coupon policy. The policy is across the board and cannot be changed at the store level.

I just had a bad experience at Walmart. The cashier would not let me use most of my internet coupons. I tried to purchase 2 of the same dog treats with 2 different internet coupons. They would not take them and loudly stated that by law a person can only print out 1 internet coupon. If you print out 2 you are violating a law. I was so embarrassed by this because they were talking so loudly and made me feel like a theif. The funny thing is that the woman in front of me used internet coupons - 8 of the same item.

Okay. I gave them another try! (wal-mart) that is. I am so finished with them. The cashier that I had last night was hateful insisting on seeing every little thing, calling the csm over to look at my coupon that I used for free toilet paper that was sent to me by Angel Soft. But the worst part was that she rolled her eyes, kept complaining about price matching and arguing with me the whole time. She even gave me coupons back that I knew I had the items. It was for a Manwich one dollar off two of the 15.5 oz. I did get that and she handed it back to me insisting that it was the big ones not the regular cans. When I got to the car and put my things in there it just so happened that the Manwich rolled out and guess what? It was 15.5 oz so I marched right back in there and got my dollar. I told the customer service person about my bad experience and she told me that the person I used was known to be rude and hateful. My question is why do they keep someone that treats their customers rudely. I can go to the stores and get double coupons and not have to put up with rude people like her. I am going to call the store that I went to and let them know about my problem because I feel that she should not get by with it.

The policy is located on the Wire FG 308 I do believe is the number. Just go to Key Resources type in Coupon Policy and you will be able to read it. Your store should have it at Customer Service in their policy book.
Many coupons do say only one per purchase, which means only one per transaction.

The problem is no going to be solve by comments and complaints, you have to DO something about it.
Every time you have a problem call the 1 800 Walmart and complaint, they do send the report to the store and have someone call you.
Do it right away over your cell phone and right down everything how happened and how that made you feel. Write down the name of the cashier and CSM, supervisor , etc.
I did it and I got a phone call from the assistant manager who solved the problem.
It feels so good!
Remember that they are looking for YOUR satisfaction as a customer, even if you are not right they should be on your side. You are the consumer, you make his business happen.

Another experience tonight that left me wondering WHY IN THE WORLD I WENT TO WALMART AGAIN!! Every time I go there I say never again. The cashier had no clue as to what their coupon policy was, and even the CSM did not have the correct information, stating that a coupon can not be used if the item will end up being free. This is absolutely crazy! So we just left everything, even the items that we did not have coupons for with them and took our business to Target, a much more well informed business, whose cashiers and CSM's actually know the store's policies. So good bye Walmart, hello Target!

Hello. I cashier at Walmart. I know all your woes. The stores are not consistant on the coupon policys. My store in Co is the best one I've been to accepting all but %s off. A store coupon, say Target, is simply price overrided to minus the coupon amount. BOGO is also price overrided, the price is divided in half for each idem, then you could also use 2 coupons for each idem. I have never heard of a store radius, just stores in the local area. All types of stores, even the Dollar stores with the ad should price match. WE are told if the internet coupon will scan , take it. If it doesn't, don't. Also aot of Free internet coupons are not accepted . WE get notices from the Manufacturers not to accept them. I do print any coupon in grayscape if it will allow. Any price can be manually entered into the register on a vendor coupon button. Most coupons for something free say up to a certain amount. They should be entered up to that amount. If its for a $1 but rings up .97 then it should be entered for .97, the register should do it. I hate to say it, but cashiers just do not know the policys, as most MGR's don't either. If you have a problem and the CSM doesn't help, ask for an Assit. MGR. If they dont't help ask for a Co-MGR, then It's the store MGR, and belive me they don't like to be called to the front. Most of the time calls to the store won't get you anywhere. I tell everyone to call 1-800-walmart. I got the coupon policy off the internet, not at work. It is short, does not cover every kind of coupon. I'm going to try and find out if I can look it up at work. Hope this helps.

I don't understand why all the stores are making it so hard to use coupons. Let's face it, how many people really use coupons? The cashiers that they use at Wal-mart seem to have more of a problem than others about understanding what a coupon says. They must go to a "special place" to hire their cashiers. The worse problem I have had is Ingles. Even though they have triple coupons, they make it so hard to understand that you just give up. You can only use 1 coupon for every 10 dollars you spend and they will not accept internet coupons for free items but will use internet coupons that if tripled will give you the item for free. All I know is that I use to love the store and now will no longer use it.

I WAS TOLD AT TARGET THIS WEEK THAT THEY COULD ONLY TAKE 1 OF THE SAME COUPON PER TRANSACTION BECAUSE COUPON STATES 1 COUPON PER PURCHASE. I EXPLAINED THAT IT MEANT ONLY 1 COUPON PER ITEM...THAT YOU COULDN'T USE 2 COUPONS FOR ONLY 1 ITEM. I EXPLAINED THAT IT DID NOT SAY PER TRANSACTION. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS MUCH TROUBLE ...WHAT'S UP
