Walmart’s pretty light on the school supply deals this week, but hopefully they’ll pick up soon!

I’m sorry I didn’t have a chance to update the Walmart deals last week, but that’s on my agenda for Tuesday. In the meantime, check out the big list of Walmart deals for groceries and more.

  • 1-Subject Notebook (70-pg.), $0.15
  • Sharpie Accent Major Highlighters (4-pk.), $1.50
  • Sharpie Fine Markers (2-pk.), $1.50
  • Five Star 1-Subject Notebook, $1.50
  • Avery 1″ Durable View Binder, $2.50
  • Georgia Pacific Copy Paper (500-sheets), $2.50

For more Back To School deals (I can hardly believe I’m writing that already), check out Cincinnati Cents!

Thanks for the heads up, Jolene! My little one isn’t in school yet, but she sure goes through crayons like crazy! Office Depot has a B2G1 free sale going on right now, but that’s for full price.

This isn’t related to school supplies, but Walmart has small packs of Carefree pads or pantiliners for $1. These are free after $1/1 any Carefree product coupons! I found these coupons in old publications of Parenting and Parents magazines. (The August 2009 Parents mag has $1.50/1 any Tide Stain Release and $0.25/1 SunnyD Smoothies coupons… good not terribly great coupons… maybe Parenting will have some better ones.)

In the past, Walmart has had their one subject notebooks for 5cents in the back to school time. Not that 15cents is bad, I just liked the 5cents better.

Wal Mart also has 10 pk. BIC Cristal pens for $1. There is a BIC pen printable for $1 making these free!

I just wanted to say thank you for all your hard work. I check your posts pretty much everyday and I just realized I haven’t thanked you yet. You have saved me lots of time and money! Keep up the great work. Thanks Again.

Walmart has Elmer’s glue sticks (2 pack) for .25 . They usually go fast too!

Walgreens had school supplies ads in the Sunday paper. While Staples had $1 sales, I think early shopping will find you even greater sales. Don’t forget Big Lots too.

Wal-Mart has way better sales than Staples on the school supplies. With the weekend shopping, I believe that I’m almost done with the back to school supplies! YAY! Thanks for your posts. They truly helped me shop wisely.

What’s sooo great about these back to school sales is that recently i went shopping for a notebook and realized how darn expensive they can be when NOT on sale. It was funny – I hadn’t gone non-sale shopping for a simple notebook in forever and was shocked!

Just got back from Walmart and the spiral notebooks were only 5 cents each instead of 15 cents. They have a limit of 48.

cvs is running freebies each week on school supplies. might check it out if you have one nearby.

my walmart doesn’t have the notebooks (tear) but they do have crayons for a quarter! I live in FL

I agree with all of your commenters. I grab all the loss leaders. Every week there is a great sale at a different store from mid July to end of August. I stocked up on so many school supplies last year that I seriously don’t think I’ll need to get anything for my 3 children except maybe an expandable folder for my son. Staples had 3 prong folders for free last year. Kroger had 5¢ 70 page notebooks. I literally paid pennies for everything.

I think the BIC coupons are dead…

Shoot, I thought my .25 cent notebook from Staples was a good deal! Although I did get 6 highlighters for $1!

I just wanted to send out a reminder to everyone that with these great prices you could pick up a few extra school supplies and send them to the teachers to use in the classroom.

I teach 8th grade and know that I could definitely use things like notebooks, glue sticks, crayons, etc.

19 Liz (Walgreens employee) July 15, 2009 at 2:31 am

i usually also buy them to send to the school for either hand outs for kids that can’t afford them or to put in the school store. Walgreens has BOGO on $9.99 backpacks. I usually buy the two that I need and get two more just in case the mess one up during the year. Way better than having to pay full price later on.

20 andrea July 15, 2009 at 10:30 am

Liz—that’s a good idea. I’ll bet this year with all the job losses, there will be more kids than ever whose parents have a heard time affording school supplies. One thing you can do is, if you go to church, get your church to “adopt” a school and collect school supplies for them to give to kids who don’t have any.
