Old Navy $1 Flag Tees Cancelled?

Rumors are swirling that the Old Navy Flag Tees $1 sale is canceled. Some are speculating that it’s due to insufficient stock.

I was just at Old Navy tonight, and I didn’t see any of the tees left on display, so this seems like it could be true. However, readers have reported seeing commercials for it on TV, so it could be regional.

So it’s still a possibility, but I’d encourage you to call your local store first before making a special trip!

1 Shannon July 2, 2009 at 11:11 pm: Did anyone call their store? I just now read this post and now it’s too late to call the store. I was planning to be there when they open at 9, but now I’m not so sure… where are the rumors coming from?

3 Tara Kuczykowski July 2, 2009 at 11:32 pm: Some people asked at their Old Navy stores or emailed customer service and they said they weren’t doing it, but as I mentioned, readers have also reported seeing the commercials. I didn’t want anyone to be disappointed in the morning, so I wanted to relay the information.

Another reader left a comment saying she was told they were only doing it in Canada, but that seems a little ludicrous. I mean who in Canada wants to buy an American flag tee?

I was going to head up to Polaris (gotta return some things at Sears) & was hoping they still had the sale.

& I would buy a Canadian tee for a buck LOL but I like maple leaves.

So I’m not going.. the flip flop thing was a nightmare last time I was there:)

21 Becky July 3, 2009 at 11:32 am: Just got back from ON in Winchester, VA. I called at 9 last night and was told they would be participating. I went today and got 4 shirts, and they rung up at $21 total. I asked the cashier about the sale and she knew nothing about it. She called the manager who said the sale was cancelled and only happening in Canada. They were super nice though and gave them to me for a total of $4.20, so I’m happy!! We’re going to take our first family portrait since our littlest came into the world with matching red and blue tees. :)

23 karla July 3, 2009 at 11:55 am: We went to one of 4 local ONs and knew something wasn’t right, right away. There were no lines, TONS of the flag Ts and hardly anyone in the store. Ts were priced at $5 and when I asked what happened to the promo? She said headquarters cancelled this a.m. I was really looking forward to a cheap T but went ahead and picked them up anyway. They are giving military discount until the 4th.

28 Lauren July 3, 2009 at 12:51 pm: HEhe, I just was Tara’s comment about doing it in Canada. They make Canada Day t-shirts for July 1st, so those could be on sale. We’re Canadian and were back last week and got a tee for our little one for Canada Day.

29 Stephanie July 3, 2009 at 12:57 pm: The ON we went to in Richmond, VA this morning had PLENTY of shirts and had been planning to participate then learned just this morning that the $1 sale was only in Canada, which is apparently what everyone else is hearing. Very poor choice ON. Either do the sale or don’t but don’t change the rules.

30 Doug D. July 3, 2009 at 1:20 pm: I stopped at my Old Navy nearby and they told me the deal was cancelled at the last minute. They had plenty of Adult size T-shirts, but no childrens sizes. What a bummer!

When we all went in and picked up the shirts the sales kid told us that the $1 sale was only happening in Canada. A few of the other people that were there advised Old Navy management that they saw about the sale on the local news but the manager would not honor the deal.

35 Kelly R July 3, 2009 at 3:59 pm: Wendy – Okemos is the store I was at yesterday and they had signs saying they would be on sale today. I don’t live close, so I checked with my local store and they knew nothing abot it. Happy to hear that Okemos honored their sign if you brought it up though. Wish I could have made it in there to pick one up.
36 remriwhite July 3, 2009 at 3:59 pm: I went to the University ON here in Tampa, FL. I was able to pick up $1 shirts for everyone but the smallest. So we drove to the Westshore mall ON to try to get one there, they had one, but weren’t participating in the sale. They gave out the same info about a hoax and a blog joke. I even told them I had just purchased t’s at the other location and they said that that store would be getting in trouble. Glad I got the ones I did.
37 Kellee July 3, 2009 at 4:18 pm: I didn’t see any ON flag t-shirts at the ON in Concord, NC. I got to the store about 11am but, I didn’t ask any of the employees about the $1 sale either. I didn’t see any signs or anything promoting the sale.

I asked the friendly cashier if they were ringing up $1, and she said that sale is tomorrow, the 4th. She seemed to know full well what I was talking about, and what she was talking about. So maybe when they said “only in Canada” – THAT was the joke.
39 Ken July 3, 2009 at 5:12 pm: I was at the Toms River, New Jersey store early today for the sale. Saw plenty of the flag shirts all saying $5.00. When I spoke with the cashier she told me corporate decided this morning to cancel the promotion. I have decided to cancel shopping at Old navy any more aftwer this switch and bait scam, they should be reported to the BBB.
40 MamaC. July 3, 2009 at 5:20 pm: I made a trip to our local store in Burlington, and there were plenty of flag shirts in stock. When I finally found an employee on the floor, and asked about the $1 sale, he looked at me like I had 16 heads. Apparently, he knew nothing about it.

Glad I had to go to the Dollar Tree, too (right across the parking lot), or I would have been really bummed.
41 Bree July 3, 2009 at 5:45 pm: I work at Old Navy and we were told this morning that it was only Canadian stores and/or Canadian flag tees that were $1…our manager told us we could give the deal to people who questioned the price just so we wouldn’t get anyone mad…
42 Holly P July 3, 2009 at 6:08 pm: They aren’t doing it in AL. I went to the store this morning, and the lady said it was because they decided to put the capri’s on sale for $9. I didn’t get it…they had GAZILLIONS of T-shirts left. Oh well…so sad.

47 Shelley July 4, 2009 at 12:28 am: Should have called first — drove way out of my way to go to Old Navy for the $1 sale. Salesperson said that alot of people had been asking but that it was never planned for their store. I did buy something else, but should have walked out of the store. I was very dissapointed in Old Navy, as well as the highly touted blogger (refered by this site) who had an “inside connection” and coupons to give out on her site.
48 Tara Kuczykowski July 4, 2009 at 12:34 am: Shelley, I’m not sure what to make of your “highly touted blogger” comment. Chris was given those coupons by Old Navy PR to host a giveaway on her site, just as I was for the last refresh. Her “inside connection” is completely legitimate.
49 Kari July 4, 2009 at 1:52 am: I drove to the nearest ON Friday, 7/3, (1 1/2 hours away) and was told that the tees were only $1 online, in-store was $5 according to the manager. So I went to my car to get back online only to find there was no sale there. I decided to contact them by phone. I found the toll free # by using “customer service” link at the bottom of the page. The lady there simply apologized for my long drive, but “that sale is in Canada stores only.” was her reply. Good thing there were fireworks in the same town. So my hubby, kids & I grabbed a nice dinner and enjoyed fireworks! Thanks for all you do in trying to help us save!!!!
50 Kari July 4, 2009 at 9:54 am: Old Navy will honor the deal if you mention it, they did pull it due to stock issues. I was able to get mine just for saying I knew about the deal.
