Target: $3 Columbia Pictures Movies

by Tara Kuczykowski on July 31, 2009 · 78 comments

Target $3 Movies
What a great way to stock up on some early Christmas gifts! Print the $2 off Movie Staycation coupon (Target version), and take it to Target to get a number of movies for only $3.

The coupon is in PDF format, so you can print it multiple times, and it’s valid on any Columbia Pictures movie, not just those shown.

Reader Teresa got the following movies for just $3 each:

  • Madeline
  • Little Women
  • Muppets From Space
  • Elmo in Grouchland

If you find other $5 movies that would work with this deal, please share!

Also if you buy 6 staycation movies on the list form either Target, Best Buy, or FYE you can register them on the staycation site and get another movie from their staycation rewards for free!! no s&H either- also all of my movies from Target had the same code on the back of the label-so I had previously purchased 2 of the movies on the Target list so I just entered those UPCs with the promo code that was on the newer movies and it worked! This is all just entering codes-no mailing in of receipts or PoP.

I printed 5, I will be going to target today and I will post back what I find!

17 Kelly July 31, 2009 at 1:24 pm

19 courtney July 31, 2009 at 2:52 pm

I ended up getting movies that I dont think were sony? I had a hard time figuring out which one I could pick. But the cashier took the coupon for all 6 even tho 4 of them didnt want to go thru. Got Cat in the Hat (with Mike Meyers) Sandlot, Karate Kid, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory (with Johhny Depp) Stewart Little, & I can’t remember the last..
Also saw peelies, wich didn’t peel off b/c I tried to see what the back said. But DID see that specifically says 1 coupon per DVD, and the peelie is same brand “staycation” as coupons printed from online. And it says save $2 on your NEXT purchase, and tells you where to go online…

20 Holly July 31, 2009 at 2:57 pm

Make sure the movies you get have either the yellow peelie OR a *new* bar code sticker on top of the UPC. I bought 9 different movies, and only 4 would go through on the Sony website for the free one.

21 maria July 31, 2009 at 2:57 pm

I got 13 going on 30, grouchland, milo and otis, daddy days out and muppets in space.

my 13 going on 30 and milo and otis wont allow me to input it in for the 6 get 1 free? Any luck or is that code different????

The others , I was able to use the same code plus its own upc, but not those 2.

any ideas?

22 Tamara July 31, 2009 at 3:35 pm

I am not sure if those use a different code-the movies have to on the staycation movie list for either BB, Target or FYE- I couldn’t remember if those 2 titles were- I can post annie and matilda upcs that should work if you need them.

23 Bre July 31, 2009 at 4:15 pm

This is frustrating. I bought 6…but it will only let me put in Matilda on the website. Granted, I don’t have a yellow peelie on the other ones but they were all on the list. Does anyone have any other yellow peelie promo codes I could try? Thanks.

24 Libby July 31, 2009 at 4:45 pm

I was able to buy the following DVDs at $5 each at Target: Girl, Interrupted / The Karate Kid / Matilda / 50 First Dates / The Adventures of Milo and Otis / Stuart Little / As Good As It Gets / Steel Magnolias / Something’s Gotta Give / Air Force One . Some of the other DVDs listed were $7.50 or more so I’ll be saving some coupons to use on future sales (hopefully), especially since the coupon(s) don’t expire until October 31, 2009. Thanks for listing this deal – I’ll be using these DVDs for Christmas stocking stuffers.

25 maria July 31, 2009 at 5:11 pm

tamara, I have matilda too but not annie. That would be great

26 Jamin July 31, 2009 at 6:10 pm

If you select “other” when selecting at which store to buy the movies, It has a huuuuuge list/pictures of the movies that should qualify & it doesn’t seem like the coupon is any different from the “store specific” version.

27 Abby July 31, 2009 at 6:17 pm

Oh I never did find Grouchland oh well here is what I did get though

Little Women
Secret of the Nymh
Barbie of Swan Lake
Scooby Doo
&
Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure combined 1&2!
so excited about the last one my son who is now 17 watched this over and over again when he was little. He will crack up when he gets this for Christmas!

28 Tamara July 31, 2009 at 6:35 pm

here are a couple of UPCs for movies I purchased and used the promo code X7G6L

Matilda- 043396013537
Annie- 043396095328
Les Miserables-043396239999

hope that helps somebody
BTW is that the same promo code in your target movies?

29 maria July 31, 2009 at 6:47 pm

thanks tamara, that helps. I was hoping I wouldnt have to buy another 2 even though i did buy 6 total today!

30 letty July 31, 2009 at 6:53 pm

I printed coupons for store specific target, and bestbuy and also for other store and all barcodes are the same. Has anyone tried using these coupons at walmart?

31 Rebecca July 31, 2009 at 6:54 pm

So I was pretty overwhelemed whenI got to the dvds at Target and wasn’t sure how to know what was included, so I did a hail Mary and just grabbed 3 random $5 kids movies. I think 2 went through okay and I she pushed 1 through. I got Dr. Seus Green Eggs and Ham (may have been the problem dvd), Bob the Builder, and Blue’s Clues. I am not sure why any of them worked though because none of them are Sonny…. ????

To sweeten this deal combine it with the Crest whitening strip deal. The 2 packs that are 4.99. (found on an end by the pharmacy) $5 coupon in 6-7 P&G. There are $7 off in the package. My cashier took the whole $7 off, so the overage went towards the movies.
3 packs of crest whitening strips
3 movies @ $5 each
Final price after coupons $5.07 ($2 was tax)

32 Donna Krum July 31, 2009 at 9:10 pm

37 Kristy July 31, 2009 at 11:57 pm

38 mnk August 1, 2009 at 8:00 am

when i printed out the coupon it showed me what movies, pink panther, karate kid, underworld,a few good men, cruel intention, somethings got to give, little woman, annie, mona lisa and more!

39 joy August 1, 2009 at 8:46 am

Thanks Tamara – I used your promo code with the UPC from The Muppets Take Manhattan I had at home already and that worked too – now I only have to actually buy 2 @ $3 each to fill the passport for the free ones from the Sony Staycation site. I was at Target yesterday and they had at least 15 different titles with they yellow code peelie on the front. Of course, there are TONS of movies that the $2 coupon will work on, you just have to hunt or make a list from the ones shown on the Staycation site. If you choose”other” instead of Target as the retailer you will see a bigger list. Only problem is it prints sooooo small it is hard to make out the movies from the printed page. Ghostbusters and Daddy Daycare are 2 more that are $5 at Target and are on the list. They also have a bunch that are $7.50.

Since they are not unique, I think we should post the UPC codes and all take advantage of the free giveaway. I don’t know if the X7G6L code that Tamara posted is different on other types of movies. I tried it on all of my Sony/Columbia/TriStar dvd’s I have at home and only the childrens’ movies worked with that code. All of the Sony UPCs start with 043396…

Muppets Take Manhattan is: 043396056169

Here are some more titles from that brand:

Bye Bye Birdie
Wildthings
Trouble With Angels
The Way We Were
Somethings Gotta Give
Daddy Daycare
Matilda
Stepmom
Charlie’s Angels
Wedding Planner
Hook
Muppets in Space
Cruel Intentions
Karate Kid 1 & 2
Stripes
Short Circut
Little Women
28Days
Donnie Brasco
A Few Good Men
Jerry Maguire
My Best Friend’s Wedding
Ghost Busters
Dick & Jane (Jim Carrey)
My Girl 1 & 2
Stuart Little 1&2
Anger Management
Annie
Pink Panther
Look Who’s Talking
As Good as it Gets
Steel Magnolias
Rudy
A League of Their Own
Les Miserables

I found it easier to shop with a list instead of checking the fine print on the back of every one. The $2 coupon will work on all of these. Not all of them are $5 – some are $7.50, some are $10 and some are more.

Muppets in Space: 043396039322
Steel Magnolias: 043396702431

You can find the UPC for just about any movie by googling “[movie name] upc” or by searching for the movie on Amazon and scrolling down to the details. Hope that helps!

42 Dani August 2, 2009 at 10:32 am

I entered in all of my codes but has anyone actually seen the free movies they’re offering yet? Not my cup of tea, in the least:

Casino Royale
Spiderman 3
Resident Evil
Dragon Wars

No family movies at all!! Hopefully they’ll get some better choices before the deal expires on Oct 31.

43 Dani August 2, 2009 at 10:35 am

Wait a minute! You need to click on each set of letters to see what else they have. They don’t all come up at once. Phew!

44 Dani August 2, 2009 at 1:12 pm

I ended up choosing Stuart Little for my little girl. Here are the codes I used:

Enter Promo Code X7G6L

Enter the following 6 DVD UPCs:
043396013537
043396095328
043396239999
043396056169
043396039322
043396028524

46 Brandi August 2, 2009 at 8:10 pm

I don’t know if everyone knows this or not but this week a lot of the titles are on sale for 4.75! I saw elmo in grouchland, milo and otis, Matilda and a few others. Just thought I’d let everyone know if you get the movies this week you can save another quarter!

47 letty August 2, 2009 at 11:54 pm

I went to Bestbuy today and some of these movies are 3.99! They did take the coupons so I got a pretty good deal on some good movies!!!

48 Tamara August 3, 2009 at 2:31 pm

I just went to a Target in FL. I printed 4 coupons. I grabbed any 4 movies on the $4.75 rack.. All of the coupons worked on them. Barney, Thomas, Scooby-Doo, and Green Eggs and Ham. Great deal for $2.75 each!!

49 Doug August 5, 2009 at 7:07 am

I found several at Best Buy, too, at $3.99 each. Easy Rider, Pink Panther, and Matilda. $1.99 after coupons. I plan to go back for more before Sunday. Thanks for the tip!

50 Lissa August 5, 2009 at 1:38 pm

Were you all able to use more than one coupon at one time? At the top of the coupon it says Do not double or triple. Is there a limit to how many you can print out and do you have to refresh your cookies each time to make the coupon change? Thanks!
